This is the job We're looking for a Senior Operations Research Engineer – Machine Learning to help solve complex industrial optimization challenges using advanced mathematical modeling, simulation, and machine learning techniques. In this role, you'll develop statistical and computational models that represent the behavior of industrial systems, enabling intelligent optimization across interconnected processes. Working with real-world sensor data and experimentation, you'll transform complex engineering problems into scalable mathematical solutions that improve operational efficiency and decision-making. This is you Degree or professional experience in Operations Research , Applied Mathematics , Industrial Engineering , Chemical Engineering , Systems Engineering , or another STEM discipline Strong programming skills in Python , C++ , or C Experience with scientific computing , optimization , or computational modeling of complex systems Experience developing mathematical or statistical models for industrial or physical processes Ability to translate engineering or physical systems into computational models Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Upper-Intermediate (B2) or higher level of English Nice to have Experience with Machine Learning for optimization problems Knowledge of Operations Research , Stochastic Modeling , or Combinatorial Optimization Familiarity with Bayesian Optimization Experience with simulation methodologies such as Discrete Event Simulation , Agent-Based Modeling , or Markov Chain Models Experience using ML platforms such as Vertex AI , OpenAI Platform , or Anthropic Familiarity with High-Performance Computing (HPC) frameworks and libraries This is your role Develop statistical and computational models of industrial systems using experimental and sensor data Design optimization algorithms for complex engineering and manufacturing processes Build stochastic models that accurately represent real-world industrial behavior Evaluate, validate, and continuously improve optimization models Connect individual machine models into system-level optimization frameworks Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to transform physical processes into mathematical models Contribute to architectural discussions, technical design, and engineering best practices What awaits you at Avenga?
