We are looking for a Senior Data Architect with a modern data mindset who can design and model a data warehouse from scratch , and who has hands-on experience building new data warehouse solutions within the banking sector . This role is ideal for professionals who combine strong conceptual data modeling skills with deep technical knowledge, banking domain experience, and the ability to define scalable, future-proof data architectures aligned with modern analytics and platform strategies. Key Responsibilities Design and own the end-to-end data warehouse architecture , starting from greenfield / zero-state designs Lead conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling aligned with modern data warehousing principles Define scalable and extensible data models to support analytics, reporting, regulatory, and advanced data use cases Establish data architecture standards, modeling conventions, and best practices across the data platform Translate business, regulatory, and analytical requirements into enterprise-grade data architectures Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and platform teams to ensure architectural alignment Ensure data architecture supports key non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, data quality, lineage, and auditability Act as a design authority for data modeling and architecture decisions across projects Contribute to the modernization roadmap, including data platform evolution and architectural transformation initiatives Qualifications Must Have – Technical & Domain Expertise 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or senior data engineering roles Proven hands-on experience in designing a data warehouse from scratch (greenfield architecture) Strong background in banking sector data architectures , with experience in regulatory and analytical data platforms Deep expertise in data modeling techniques (dimensional modeling, 3NF, Data Vault, or modern hybrid approaches) Solid understanding of modern data warehouse and analytics architectures (DWH, data lake, lakehouse concepts) Experience working with enterprise DWH technologies (Oracle, SQL-based platforms, or equivalent) Ability to think strategically while remaining hands-on where needed Language & Collaboration Advanced / fluent English , capable of leading architectural discussions and documentation in English Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Proven experience working in cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams What We Offer: At ING, we believe your work should inspire and fulfill you.
