At AYKA, we’re designing the classroom experience for the age of AI: what children learn and create, how teachers guide them, and how learning informs what happens next. We’re looking for a Research Intern to help advance our research agenda alongside our academic partners and education and product teams. Our work connects research with the learning experiences and technology we develop and use in schools. Our research spans six connected areas: • AI literacy and school readiness. • How AI affects thinking, creativity and learner agency. • Skill assessment and development over time. • Adaptive support and learning pathways. • Curriculum and learning experience design. • Classroom practice, collaboration and responsible AI use. What you’ll do • Review and synthesise literature to support ongoing studies. • Help prepare research materials, learning activities and assessment criteria. • Support classroom studies and analyse student work, observations and learning data. • Document findings and contribute to discussions with academic and product teams. What you bring • Studies in education, psychology, cognitive science, HCI, computer science or a related field. • A grounding in research methods through coursework or project experience. • The ability to critically evaluate evidence and communicate your reasoning clearly. • Strong academic reading and writing skills in English. • Careful documentation and sound judgment when using AI tools in research. Experience with Python or R, experimental design, qualitative analysis or learning analytics is a plus. You’ll contribute to selected studies within our agenda, working with academic researchers and following ideas from research into classroom practice.
